The Role

About our Matthews Unit

Matthews Unit has 'a specialist remit' coupled with an experienced and motivated MDT, provides up to 38 placements with tailor-made rehabilitation packages for people with Neurological Diseases, Acquired Brain Injury or Terminal Illness. The expert Multi-Disciplinary Team comprises a Nursing medical team, Neuropsychologist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist proving specialist 24/7 support.

Requirements for our Administrator

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Care Home Administrator to work for a thriving care environment. You will be responsible for general administrative tasks; also playing a key role in communicating with clients, their families, the Local Authority and hospitals. There will also be times when you are required to carry out client visits.

Key responsibilities for our Administrator

  • Letter writing, diary organisation, faxing, photocopying and general duties.
  • Operating the telephone system, responding to enquires, screening and transferring calls.
  • Supporting with the admission and discharge processes. Ensure the relevant contracts and paperwork are received correctly and distributed as required and uploaded to Kareinn. CoolCare residential and staffing system is updated daily.
  • Ensuring you manage the efficient administration of the Mental Health Act 1983 to ensure compliance with MHA 1983 Regulations, MHA 1983 Code of Practice and Divisional policies, and procedures.
  • Work with the teams to ensure appropriate paperwork is completed correctly, and on time.
  • To attend staff meetings and internal/external training events as and when required
  • To accept responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of information relating to patients and others.
  • Archiving, auditing checking, maintaining staff files to ensure up to date and contracts, attendance and calendar updates.

The ideal Administrator

  • Experience working within an administrative role and confidential information.
  • Good basic numeracy and literacy
  • Knowledge and experience using various Microsoft Packages (including Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience within an administration role.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience.
    • Demonstrable values and a commitment to leading and supporting colleagues and service users.
    • The ability to develop and maintain a safe, harmonious environment for staff and residents.
    • Emphasising professional development and teamwork at all times.
    • High level of literacy, numeracy and administrative skills and attention to detail
    • Effective communication skills and excellent administrative skills and computer literacy with a strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
