The Role

Requirements for our Gardener

As our Gardener for Rushcliffe Care Group, private, independent healthcare provider. You will be part the care homes maintenance team and as such work to the highest standard as you will be working with a range of gardening equipment it is always essential following health and safety for the wellbeing and safety of our staff, residents and visitors which is paramount to us. The work can be both physically and mentally demanding. Predominately maintaining the gardens across our estate for care homes and hospitals, travelling will be involved. You will interact with our 'residents and visitors' and being able to feel comfortable around people living with learning disabilities, dementia, mental health whilst working with the gardens is important to us. Polite, well presented, we run very homely and lively care homes. No two weeks are the same, and a desire to be proud of what you have achieved, is vital. We are a relaxed and friendly team and have an excellent working environment. We are passionate about what we do and want to open this opportunity up to someone who has a similar passion about providing a great service as we do.

The ideal Gardener

  • Excellent communication, with a strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy
  • Great team player, flexibility to respond to the changing needs of those who we support.
  • Empathy, patience, optimism and compassion are essential for this role.
  • Effective organisational skills
  • Applicants should have a excellent all-round gardening experience and knowledge.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to manage pressure, prioritise tasks and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • And need to be able to work well on their own and manage their time effectively.
  • Full, clean driving license required as travelling to sites. Company vehicle provided for use at work only.
  • Genuine interest in working in a care environment.
  • Health and Safety checks of the grounds, environment, and equipment.
  • Desirable; experience of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, we will train if does not have the training.
  • Our gardener will ideally hold relevant qualification or be willing to work towards one.
  • Demonstrable values and a commitment to leading and supporting colleagues and service users.
  • Knowledge of health and safety matters in relation to services and risk management
  • Experience of building positive working relationships service users, their families, staff and other health and social care professionals.
