Introduction

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced team leader to join our team in Glen Parva. We need a dedicated Team Leader to work with adults with learning disabilities who also display behaviours that may challenge. This is also a great opportunity for senior carers (HCAs) looking to work in a different setting. Although experience is essential we will fully train you to ensure you have all the skills needed to provide the very highest standard of support.

Little Glen is a new specialist location in Glen Parva, Leicester that consists of four separate flats and one outreach location. Two of the flats are Transition flats to help people move from Long-term stay hospital / Residential settings to independent living. The other three are Permanent placements for people we support. The people we support have specific additional health needs and complex behaviours, which can be a challenge to staff. This is an exciting opportunity to support both individuals to achieve new things and make huge positive changes to their lives.

Skills & Experience

As a Team Leader you will play a key role in the day to day management of the location.

You will provide support and supervision to the team of support staff, be key to managing the rota and ensuring staff are fully trained, and provide on the job coaching, feedback, and act as a role model.

You will also take part in an on-call rota to ensure that our staff have access to support when it is needed

You will need to be experienced in supporting adults with learning disabilities and have skills and interests in direct line management of staff and developing others, being able to mentor your staff, as well as having the drive to work alongside your team to achieve positive outcomes for the people we support.

You will work closely with the rest of the management team to complete assessments for potential new people to move into the transition flat.

You will also play an integral role with creating and updating Support Plans, Risk Assessments, Communication Passports, Health Action Plans, Positive Behaviour Support Plans and much more.

So all of the staff are being supported, each of the Team Leaders are expected to do a month of night shifts on a 3 Month rota, this makes it so you get to know everyone on your team, gain knowledge in all that those you line manage experience and can complete supervisions.

You will work alongside the Support Manager to ensure that our staff are providing excellent support to the people that we work with.

As part of the management team you need to have excellent communication including verbal, written and IT skills and be organised, and plan your time effectively.

As a requirement of the role you will need to be willing to work flexibly, including shifts and be able to drive.

You will also have (or be willing to work towards) a level 3 Qualifications & Credit Framework Diploma (QCF)

This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check which will be provided by Affinity Trust.
