The Role
Preferred days/times: Monday -Friday 7.15am-8.15am Monday 4pm-7pm or Wednesday 4pm-7pm and Friday 4pm-7pm Additional hours may be available in the school holidays. Tasks/duties: Community activities (such as swimming, trike rides, trips to the park/Twin Lakes) and personal care (which includes changing continence products, bathing and dressing). Client has no risk awareness. Always requires 2:1 for all community access and personal care. Current PA or parent will support where required. Client main diagnosis: Autism, Downs Syndrome, Acquired brain injury, hypermobility. Some challenging behaviours. Communication: Client communicates using Makaton, and some speech and body language. Client has some sensory needs. Moving and handling: - Client uses a Wheelchair to access the community and long distances. - Has a wide gait which is unsteady, wide-footed and has reduced balance. - Current PA will act as double up 2nd carer where required. Client enjoys: action songs, cause and effect toys, loves swimming, accessing the community, loves music, particularly pop music and likes the drum kit, and sensory activities. An enhanced DBS certificate is applicable to this role. This opportunity is suited for someone who is responsible, reliable, patient, and respectful of others' privacy, dignity, values, and beliefs.
