Supported living and Shared Lives
Supported living services provide support for adults with social care needs to allow them to live independently in their own home. People using these services can choose to live on their own or live with other people who require care and support. Individuals then receive assistance from support professionals who help them live independently and reach their goals.
The Shared Lives scheme is a service that brings together people who require support to live independently and paid carers who open up their family home. Shared Lives carers support people for short or long-term placements. Shared Lives Carers are self-employed but are supervised and managed by the local authority.
